JOB SUMMARY
The Site Safety Manager works with varied project teams to ensure work activities are planned and conducted in a manner that addresses potential risks to trade personnel, operations, the public, and project assets. Provides consultation, coordination, and oversight activities to ensure appropriate requirements and best practices are incorporated during project pre-planning and construction phases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • A working knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations as well as NFPA 70E and applicable construction consensus standards at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or related field; and
  • 5-7 years' experience in commercial/industrial electrical construction site safety


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


  • Must be able to establish effective working relationships with project managers, construction superintendents, and construction foremen.
  • Ability to function in a position designed to serve independent operating units in decentralized environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understands and can utilize data management tools used for analyzing construction reporting data.
  • This position requires extensive knowledge and skills related to the safe operation of construction sites, including but not limited to, excavation, scaffolding, forklift operation, cranes/hoists, fall protection, signs/barricades, steel erection, hand/portable tools, confined space, and hearing conservation.
  • Requires strong project management skills, analytical and negotiations skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Management Responsibilities: Responsible for management of the on-site safety team, including, but not limited to, training and development. Ensure knowledge of job duties and expectations of subordinates. Communication with teams to ensure safety practices and processes. Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports. Approve weekly timecards, vacation/PTO schedules. Lead on-site incident reviews and generate any necessary reports.
  • Construction Projects: Assist Construction Project Team(s) in the review and development of safety, health and environmental plans for construction projects; participate in pre-bid conferences, walk-throughs, and pre-construction meetings. Develops and maintains regular interface with general contractors and subcontractors and assists them with site reviews and planning to prevent injury and operational impacts. Assist with investigation of serious incidents or near-misses with potentially serious consequences.
  • Field Coordination and Reporting: Perform regular site assessments. Assemble records of site observations, recommendations, and corrective actions for each worksite and project team. Prepare summary reports as requested.
  • Training: Develop, promote, and sustain safety related training. Ability to provide training in the following areas: Fall Protection in Construction, Scaffolding, Respiratory Protection, Forklift User, Aerial Lift Users, and Confined Space Entry.
  • Emergency Response: Will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to emergencies during non-business hours.
  • Other: Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Leadership experience in a field environment.
  • Experience in the construction industry.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


  • Work schedule may vary due to construction schedule
  • Night and/or weekend work may be required
  • Required to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Requires travel: Minimal (up to 10%)
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Background check, credit check, MVR and drug screen may be required (will vary by position)
