Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Chancellor is vested with complete authority, subject to the direction of the President of the UNC System. The Chancellor is responsible for carrying out policies of two governing boards: the UNC System's Board of Governors and the University's Board of Trustees. It is also the responsibility of the Chancellor to make recommendations to the System President regarding academic program development, personnel matters (subject to policies of the Governors and Trustees), and budget development. The Chancellor maintains wide discretion in decision-making with regard to student affairs (subject to policies of the governing boards) and other aspects of the administration of the University, as provided under the General Statutes of North Carolina and the UNC Code.
Position Summary
The Director of Executive Projects partners with the Chancellor, Chief of Staff, and other senior leaders in assisting with the development and coordination of pan-university initiatives and special projects including the development of project plans, resources, and reporting elements. This includes providing research, developing metrics, creating budgets, and monitoring and assessing progress toward goals. The Director of Executive Projects is also the primary supervisor and administrator for the Chancellor's Fellows program. S/he provides additional, high-level administrative support the Chief of Staff, Chancellor, and other administrators as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information on a routine basis and to exercise appropriate sensitivity and professional judgment to ensure that such information is appropriately managed. Strong organizational skills and demonstrated prior experience in managing an extremely complex and demanding executive calendar with frequently competing priorities, and the ability to effectively address constant changes in an efficient manner. Well-developed verbal communication skills including the ability to interact with the highest degree of professionalism with a variety of audiences including University senior officers, Board members, major donors, alumni, employees, public officials, and members of the general public. Strong business writing skills related to the drafting of complex correspondence, documents, and presentations. Extensive functional knowledge of modern office technology tools, especially the full suite of Microsoft Office applications. Prior experience in the higher education setting is strongly preferred, but not required.
