Responsibilities

Description

Peraton is seeking a mid-level Network Administrator. This position includes designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks such as LANs and WANs, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and reliable for daily operations. Mid-level duties often involve managing hardware like routers and firewalls, monitoring network performance, resolving connectivity issues, applying updates, and assisting with network expansions and security measures like VPNs. They also oversee backup and disaster recovery plans and may provide guidance to less technical staff on network use and security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

    Network Management: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software for LANs, WANs, and intranets.
  • Performance & Security: Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • User Support: Resolve network connectivity issues, manage user accounts and access, and provide technical support to employees.
  • System Updates & Maintenance: Deploy updates, patches, and firmware to network devices, and perform regular maintenance to ensure system stability.
  • Planning & Expansion: Assist with planning network expansions, evaluate capacity, and implement new features or hardware as needed.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records of network operations, document issues, and generate reports on network health and performance.


Qualifications

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience with BS/BA; 0 years of experience with MS/MA; 6 years of experience with HS Diploma
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Experience in network / system administration job roles or equivalent years of experience
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
  • Primary work locations in Tacoma, WA, Aurora, CO, San Antonio, TX, and Falls Church, VA. Remote work may be considered in special cases when approved by the customer.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve complex network connectivity issues, often requiring in-depth knowledge of network hardware and software.
  • Security Implementation: Configure VPNs, implement access controls, and help develop and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze network traffic and performance data to plan for future network needs and upgrades.
  • Vendor & IT Collaboration: Interface with vendor support groups to resolve major outages and collaborate with other IT professionals to support infrastructure.
  • User Training: Provide basic training to non-technical staff on network usage and data security best practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working within Military Health environments is a plus

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
