KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our International Tax practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in providing tax advice to clients in the insurance industry, across KPMG services and offerings; monitor and efficiently communicate information regarding tax legislative developments including the application of legislative change to specific client profiles
  • Build, manage, direct and monitor multiple client engagements teams while maintaining active communication with clients to manage expectations and help ensure client satisfaction; demonstrate a desire for innovation including actively embracing new technologies
  • Lead, participate in and contribute to market and business development activities including identifying and pursuing new potential client service opportunities in collaboration with others from KPMGs Audit, Tax and Advisory practices
  • Partner with members of firm leadership, including the local office tax leader, to execute on the strategic priorities of the firm and tax practice
  • Teach international tax concepts at internal and external trainings and seminars, tailoring content to the respective audience; contribute to the growth, experience and institutional knowledge of the individuals within KPMGs tax practice
  • Demonstrate KPMG values through interactions with internal teams and within the community; actively participate in events located at our clients, within our communities and in KPMG facilities across the country
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of recent experience in international corporate taxation with significant experience serving insurance industry clients
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and licensed CPA, JD/LLM or Foreign equivalent combined with Enrolled Agent
  • Previous experience with several of the following common international tax issues for the insurance industry; advising US and global life and non-life insurance and reinsurance companies on U.S. international tax issues, including Subpart F/GILTI planning with respect to insurance income, the application of Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC) rules, navigating the Base Erosion and Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT), the federal excise tax on insurers and reinsurers and insurance-specific treaty provisions; modeling and advising on the implications of Pillar Two for global insurance groups, including the application of the GloBE rules to insurance-specific entities and transactions; demonstrated experience with cross-border M&A in the insurance sector, including loss-trafficking limitations (sec. 382), withholding tax implications on premium payments and structuring of foreign-owned U.S. insurance groups; familiarity with the tax implications of common reinsurance structures
  • Demonstrated track record of business development with the ability to develop and maintain existing internal and external relationships and help build new relationships with key targets
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects and teams as well as developing and mentoring others within a collaborative team environment
