The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Project Restore, within Columbia's Center for Justice, is a violence intervention approach that offers gang and street crew-involved members an opportunity to enter an immersive year-long program that provides mentorship, case management, employment, and intensive facilitator-based restorative justice and critical-skills-building programming. The Project Director will be managing all aspects of Project Restore and will serve as the connection point between the Center for Justice, the Kings County District Attorney's Office (KCDA), the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice, Inside Circle, and selected community organizations.

The Project Director will ensure that the project remains on track and meets its weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals and will work to establish relationships with the community stakeholders, city agency partners as a community-facing representative of the Center. The Project Director will report directly to immediate supervisors: Geraldine Downey, Director of the Center for Justice, and Claudia P. Rincon, Associate Director, Center for Justice.

This role is subject to grant funding.

Responsibilities



  • The Project Director acts as the point person for the CFJ for project and evaluation-related community events and meetings.
  • Defines project scope and deliverables with various internal and external constituencies.
  • Identifies and develops goals, resources, timeline, and budget of the project.
  • Oversees and monitors progress and holds partners accountable in each of these areas.
  • Co-facilitates regularly scheduled meetings of the core stakeholder group
  • Builds ongoing and consistent relationships with individuals, leaders, and organizations in the participating communities, maintaining frequent contact with all.
  • Proactively manages all issues to ensure that program goals and deadlines are achieved; serves as the liaison between stakeholders to ensure resolution is achieved swiftly to any potential challenges.
  • Supports the evaluation team and conducts in-person and online data collection (surveys, interviews, focus groups, and session observations), research on programs and community-led interventions that promote well-being in populations living in neighborhoods affected by poverty and mass incarceration; supports data analysis and report writing.
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports on the above, and organizes regular check-ins with the CJF internal team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree desirable.
  • 4-6 years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in community organizing, including hosting events and campaigns.
  • Experience and familiarity with group dynamics.
  • Familiarity with the various communities, leaders, and institutions in NYC, specifically in Brooklyn.
