The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Principle Investigator and working with postdoctoral staff, the Technician B will provide support to a research laboratory in the Division of Hematology & Oncology.

Responsibilities



  • Perform experimental assays and prepare solutions.
  • Perform molecular cloning, gene expression profiling, and live imaging with microscopes.
  • Purify DNA and RNA for the production of genetic manipulation and perform tail vein injections.
  • Perform molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology on mouse and human bone marrow.
  • Perform routine histological techniques including blood smears and cytospins.
  • Keep laboratory records, and maintain and order lab supplies.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation.
  • Perform other related duties necessary to the functioning of the lab.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Ability to learn independently, with attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications



  • Familiarity with laboratory experiments

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
  • Work with laboratory animals
  • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
