Will work with teams and will be involved in all phases of the technical work under the guidance of senior transportation planners and modelers. Responsibilities include:

  • * Developing and applying of state-of-the-art travel demand, land-use, and disaggregate microsimulation models using transportation modeling programs.
  • * Preparing and manipulating geographic, population, travel survey, and transportation system data using ArcGIS, SQL, and Excel
  • * Performing specification and statistical estimation of discrete choice models for activity-based travel modeling using ALOGIT, LIMDEP, Biogeme, Stata, R, SPSS, or similar.
  • * Scripting using Python, VB, GISDK, EMME, Cube Voyager or similar.
  • * Computer programming and testing in Java, C++, Python, R, C#/.Net, JavaScript, or similar for development of model features
  • * Developing algorithms and extracting meaningful data-driven insights from passive big-data including location-based service (LBS), global positioning system (GPS), automated passenger count (APC), and transit farecard data.
  • * Using theoretical concepts of travel forecasting, network modeling, statistics, and data analysis for calibration and validation of advanced travel model components, development of forecast scenarios, model operation, evaluation of results, documentation, and project management

The minimum educational requirements for this position are a Bachelors in Civil or Transportation Engineering and two years of experience in any suitable occupation related to transportation modeling. Education in lieu of experience will be accepted. Education or experience must include:
