Summary: The Geospatial Business Analyst / Product Owner is responsible for managing the strategic direction, functionality, and performance of CenterPoint Energy's Enterprise geospatial data, analytics and AI environments. The position serves as the primary liaison between business units, IT, and data teams to ensure that geospatial data are leveraged to enhance operational efficiency, system reliability, compliance, safety, and decision-making. This role integrates business analysis, product ownership, and geospatial data management expertise to align initiatives with CenterPoint Energy's organizational goals, supporting electric and natural gas operations, customer, supply chain and other corporate functions across the enterprise. Duties and Responsibilities: Product Ownership and Strategy
- Own and maintain the geospatial product vision, roadmap, and priorities in alignment with corporate objectives and business requirements.
- Translate operational needs into actionable user stories, requirements, and technical specifications for developers and IT teams.
- Manage product lifecycle activities, including planning, backlog management, release coordination, and continuous improvement.
- Define and monitor performance indicators for product adoption, reliability, and business value.
- Ensure products and solutions comply with corporate cybersecurity, regulatory, and data governance standards.
Business Analysis and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business units on capabilities, enhancements, and service delivery.
- Conduct business process reviews, workflow mapping, and requirements analysis to identify and prioritize geospatial solutions.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops, stakeholder interviews, and demonstrations to capture feedback and align expectations to support geospatial or imagery-based projects
- Develop and maintain business requirements documentation, functional specifications, and user guides.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment reviews, and communication for system updates and new releases.
Technical Leadership and Geospatial Enablement
- Oversee integration of geospatial solutions with enterprise systems such as SAP, asset management, work management, and outage systems.
- Evaluate and recommend geospatial tools, data models, and spatial data services to support CenterPoint's operations.
- Support cloud-based geospatial environments (e.g., GCP and Azure) and ensure performance, scalability, and availability standards are met.
- Collaborate on configuration and customization of geospatial web and mobile applications in collaboration with the GIS.
Data Governance and Quality
- Support the enterprise geospatial data governance framework by maintaining standards for accuracy, completeness, and metadata management.
- Coordinate with data stewards to ensure spatial datasets are updated, validated, and version-controlled in accordance with operational needs.
- Promote data consistency across divisions by enforcing data models and integration protocols.
- Develop and maintain documentation on geospatial data architecture, processes, and business rules.
Leadership, Communication, and Collaboration
- Act as an advocate for geospatial technology and its strategic use throughout the organization.
- Provide subject matter expertise to leadership, engineers, planners, and field personnel on geospatial capabilities.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and training materials that communicate system value, performance, and innovation.
- Mentor analysts and junior geospatial staff, promoting continuous learning and cross-functional collaboration.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree inGeographic Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimumfive (5) years of progressively responsible experiencein geospatial product management, business analysis, or geospatial system leadership.
- Demonstrated proficiency withEsri ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS JavaScript API, satellite imaging, weather data and other geospatial tools and technologies
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and manage end-to-end project delivery.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in geospatial, Geospatial Intelligence, or related technical field.
- Experience withReact, Vite, or Calcite Design System.
- Knowledge ofspatial databases(PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or Snowflake).
- Familiarity withPython scripting (ArcPy or ArcGIS Python API)and automation processes.
- Understanding ofcloud environments (AWS, Azure)and modern DevOps practices.
- Background indefense, utilities, or critical infrastructure GEOSPATIAL operations.

- Advanced understanding of geospatial principles, spatial data structures, and geospatial analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and consensus-building across diverse teams.
- Effective communicator capable of producing clear, concise, and actionable documentation.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to cross-functional initiatives.

- Approves business requirements and user stories before development initiation.
- Advises management on resource allocation, project timelines, and technology investments.
- Exercises independent judgment in balancing business requirements with technical feasibility and cost efficiency.
