This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to a career appointment. Department Summary Capital Programs is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, design and construction of capital improvement projects for the UCLA campus. In addition to managing projects, Capital Programs staff develop financial strategies, undertake architectural design, conduct building department review of plans and specifications, carry out environmental reviews, and prepare and negotiate construction contracts and agreements, coordinate staging plans, and serve as a repository for project records and as-built plans. Capital Programs is organized into two main operating departments, Capital Planning and Finance and Design and Construction. Capital Programs exercises responsibility over a major capital improvement project building program that exceeds $2 billion in the value of projects in design or under construction. and is among the largest in the nation. Position Summary Project Managers are responsible for the coordination of architectural planning, and for the delivery of major capital improvement projects after architectural planning has been completed. The Project Manager has primary responsibility for these major capital improvements; and is accountable for achieving the established project scope of work within budget and on time for single or multiple projects with an aggregate value of $50-$100 million in project costs. Additional responsibilities include liaison with the campus community, building end-users, system-wide administration and regulatory agencies. During the planning, design and documentation phases, the Project Manager is responsible for orchestrating the efforts of outside design professionals (architects and engineers) and various consultants in the development of architectural programs, master plans, preliminary plans, working drawings and specifications. During the bid-award and construction phases, the Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the efforts of prime construction contractors, construction managers, design professionals, and testing and inspection agencies in constructing the project. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
