Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Department Administrator, the Departmental Accountant provides complex financial support services and accounting management for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UW-Madison. The Accountant is responsible for working with Department leadership to manage 101 and 131 funding including budget analysis, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. The position is also responsible for providing oversight and advising on other non-sponsored funds including WFAA, UW Trust Fund, scholarship, and 135, 136, and 150 funds. This position requires a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards in addition to campus policies and procedures. The Accountant plays an integral part in developing policies, procedures, and controls for the successful financial management, forecasting, and reporting of department funds. This position audits and approves purchases and travel transactions. As such, the Accountant is responsible for providing some training to and oversight of purchasing card holders and reimbursement approvers. Applicants for this position will be considered for Accountant I and Accountant II titles. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. Key Job Responsibilities:
