Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Supervisor, supporting TOS II, at Tunnel 9 in White Oak, Maryland. The candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of Engineering Technicians at the Hypervelocity Wind Tunnel 9, ensuring operational readiness, adherence to test schedules, efficient troubleshooting, and effective scheduling and tracking of repairs and maintenance. The Supervisor is responsible for the performance and development of a team of Engineering Technicians, ensuring the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a wind tunnel and associated subsystems. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Job Duties:

    Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of Engineering Technicians in the maintenance and operations of a high-velocity wind tunnel and its subsystems (pneumatic , mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Prioritize, schedule, and assign work tasks to Engineering Technicians.
  • Control the daily work tempo to meet operational demands and maintain efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems related to the wind tunnel and high-pressure gas systems.
  • Oversee the execution of preventative maintenance to ensure the long-term reliability of equipment.
  • Review, edit, and approve work instructions and maintenance documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team on complex repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with established work instruction, safety policy, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with management, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding operational status, challenges, and progress.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee timecards accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage and authorize Paid Time Off (PTO) requests, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
  • Manage and prioritize operations purchase requests.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years of progressive and relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial machinery, preferably in a wind tunnel or similar high-pressure gas system environment.
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and leading technical teams.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in a high-risk setting.
