Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Research & Development Technician to work in our Nuclear Science and Technology (NS&T) department supporting Fusion Research. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our ATR facility with every Friday off.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring work is performed safely, in accordance with laboratory policies, standards and procedures.
  • Perform assessments/audits to ensure compliance to laboratory requirements.
  • May provide research support by procurement, assembly, set-up, troubleshooting and operation of research equipment and experiments.
  • Direct the operation and maintenance of bench, pilot, and full-scale research equipment designed to process and handle materials through chemical, mechanical, and thermal conditions.
  • Directly guide the implementation of new concepts and techniques with respect to program assets and new capabilities.
  • Provide research support by procurement, assembly, set-up, troubleshooting and operation of research equipment and experiments.
  • Maintain records and logs of work activities and procedures as directed. Compile and complete documentation of development and/or test processes.
  • May participate in equipment and/or test design.
  • Depending on work assignment, may require training and understanding in areas such as lock out/tag out (LO/TO), respirator, confined spaces, hoisting and rigging, forklift and other equipment operation, intermediate and advanced material handling.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related experience.
  • Level 4: High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of related experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($ 30.17 - $ 49.78) / Level 4 ($35.30 - $58.23). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel,
and bend. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with
hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment, using a ladder, and operating a vehicle. The
employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing
capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. The ability to smell is required.
