What you'll do

Our outstanding team is tasked with exploring new and continuing business initiatives that fall outside the scope of Viasat's Business Divisions. Our team helps Viasat expand into avenues at a macro and micro level that are outside the current day-to-day operations. Our team serves as a connection between Business Divisions by seeking out and understanding alignments and mutual needs.

The Strategic Initiatives Finance Manager supports long-term company growth by performing financial assessment and developing financial models. They also collaborate with senior leadership on significant efforts such as acquisitions or new product launches. Key responsibilities include evaluating potential investments, monitoring important data, identifying growth opportunities, and sharing financial insights with others involved.

The Strategic Finance team plays a meaningful role in crafting our long-term business strategy and driving execution by exploring new opportunities. We support Corporate and the individual Operational Areas by presenting opportunities for alignments, new growth, and cost reductions through partnerships, new products, and asset allocation.


The day-to-day

* Financial analysis and modeling:
o Build and maintain financial models for new business ventures, forecasting, and scenario planning.
o Conduct in-depth analysis to evaluate the financial viability of strategic opportunities, investments, and new products by assessing total addressable market, revenue opportunities, unit economics, and investment costs.
o Analyze market trends, competition, and industry developments to inform strategic decisions.

* Strategic support:
o Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams (such as product, sales, and engineering) to drive central initiatives.
o Assist with major projects like Joint Ventures, Make-Or-Buy Decisions, and Asset sales/procurement.
o Identify and assess new opportunities for business growth and profitability.
o Optimize financial benchmarks and build financial metrics dashboards.
o Lead special projects by partnering with various collaborators and 3rd parties to improve financial health of the company.

* Reporting and communication:
o Synthesize complex data into clear and actionable insights for management, the board of directors, and other collaborators.
o Prepare materials and presentations to help facilitate decision making and strategic alternatives.


What you'll need

* Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
* 7+ years of work experience including investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategic finance, financial planning & analysis, or consulting.
* Strong proficiency in excel and financial modeling, including valuation, project financing, and 3-statement construction.
* Experience with U.S. GAAP principles.
* Experience in financial planning, analysis, and forecasting.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills to combine detailed data.
* A proactive, "take ownership" mentality and strong project management skills.
* An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while constantly accumulating knowledge of our complex and evolving technology

This will be a hybrid role located in Carlsbad, CA

Salary range

$115,000.00 - $182,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $143,000.00- $215,000.00/ annually
