THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will play a pivotal role in keeping Wayne County Maintenance District facilities safe, clean, and operational. A primary focus of this position will involve directly supporting the "Moving Pennsylvania Forward" agenda by ensuring our building and grounds present a high-quality image to the public and serve as a safe workplace for our team.


Interior assignments will include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping offices, and ensuring restrooms are clean and fully stocked. Exterior maintenance projects may entail keeping the sidewalks clear of debris and snow, perform mowing, weed-whacking, and light landscaping to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Safety must be prioritized at all times as assignments may involve
exposure to grease, petroleum products, and fumes, as well as conducting duties in a range of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow or ice.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Summer work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience utilizing commercial floor scrubbers and carpet shampoo machines.
  • You must have experience painting and replacing ceiling tiles.
  • You must have experience with lawn mowing, weed trimming, pruning shrubs, maintaining land scape, sweeping and snow blowing-snow removal on sidewalks.
  • You must be willing to work call-out situations without notice.
  • You must have experience washing windows, removing trash, and climbing ladders to roof top units.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
