DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this entry level, County Social Services Aide 1 position, you will work closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide services in the home to families with children after a caseworker has visited and determined services to be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for one-on-one assistance and communication with families to work toward positive goals and outcomes. Your duties will include helping families in all areas of life such as household budgeting, in-home parenting education, proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking and food shopping skills, and maintenance of the home. You will also assist in completing applications and forms needed to help families access other types of assistance. Work may include transporting consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments, as well as providing childcare when necessary. This involves frequent standing, climbing steps, and walking distances as a normal part of the job duties. You will also be responsible for completing a written report of each appointment with families; participate in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals; attend court and testify, if needed; and complete clerical office duties as needed. If you can manage multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, and pay close attention to details under a constantly changing work environment you will succeed in this role. - $1,500 sign on bonus available for this position after six (6) months of service.
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Possible after-hours appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.
- Travel to areas that may not be accessible to public transportation. Possible travel requiring overnight stays.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from high school; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. A physical and tuberculosis test are required.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
