Landfill Gas Technician

Heart of Florida Landfill, a Waste Connections site in Lake Panasoffkee, FL.

Has an immediate position open for a Lube Techniciantoperform preventative maintenanceon our fleet of garbage trucks and heavy equipment machines. Individuals with 1+ years experience working on heavy diesel trucks or those that have completed a Diesel Technology program are encouraged to apply.

Monday through Friday 40 to 50 hours a week and some Saturday work.

Pay $21+ DOE

Responsibilities include:

• Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the landfill.
• Work with Lead Landfill Gas Technician to ensure compliance.
• Maintain relationships with landfill employees as well as consultants and vendors.
• Using gas analyzer to monitor gas wells and probes.
• Performing maintenance on pneumatic pumps, including the removal of pumps in wells, inspections, and repairs.
• Monitoring the amount of liquid in gas wells.
• HDPE pipe fusion.

Position Requirements:

• Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision.
• Ability to be coachable and learn how to navigate the landfill in a safe manner.
• Work outdoors for most of the day.
• Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.
• Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day.
• Provide on-call response to gas collection system.
• Experience operating hand and power tools.
• Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions.
