Summary Description

Logistics: Palmetto GBA - one of BlueCross BlueShield's South Carolina subsidiary companies.

Location:This position is full time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 5:30pm and will be on-site in Florence, SC.

  • Government Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, which requires applicants to be a U.S. Citizen.

  • SCA Benefit Requirements: BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its subsidiary companies have contracts with the federal government subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). As a Service Contract Act (SCA) employee, you are required to enroll in our health insurance, even if you already have other health insurance. Until your enrollment is complete, you will receive supplemental pay for health coverage. Your coverage begins on the first day of the month following 28 days of full-time employment.

Position Purpose:

Provides first and second level technical support to a variety of customers comprising the submitter community, as well as basic internal support via analysis and research into EDI-related issues as required by business contracts.

The position resides in the EDIG (Electronic Data Interchange Gateway) team working on the Operations side with a team of operation associates. We are looking for a self-starter, team player, and has great communication skills. The main part of the job will be answering phones and assisting trading partners and clearing houses. The position works closely with the team lead on direction and job assignment. The operations team interacts with a host team and non-host team in order to support the EDIG process managing healthcare claims

What You'll Do:

  • Provides quality/timely internal/external customer technical support/service for variety of insurance contracts as assigned.

  • This encompasses, but is not limited to, support of communication interfaces/transactions/functions as required by insurance laws (such as support of claims, remit advice, inquiry/response for claims status/eligibility, enrollment, etc.), support of all current formats/transactions required by law/PGBA lines of business.

  • Responsible for the setup of all electronic transactions submission by processing enrollment applications, updating associated system files, and managing customer notification.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need:

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in a job-related field.

Degree Equivalency:

  • A total of 4 years job-related work experience.

Required Work Experience:

  • 2 years of applicable EDI experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Good system research and analysis skills.

  • Working knowledge of relevant EDI software and tools used by the company/contract.

  • Good organizational, judgment, customer service, and both verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills.

  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.

Required Software and Other Tools: Microsoft Office.

  • Strong customer service skills

  • PCA or express claims experience

  • Experience with testing electronic claims software.
