Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Drafting Technician II to join our security business unit.

The Drafting Technician II serves as an advanced drafting resource, supporting both 2D CAD and 3D Revit modeling across all project phases. This role collaborates with engineers and project managers to ensure models and drawings meet technical, code, and client standards, and participates in BIM coordination and process improvements. Strong Revit skills, BIM knowledge, and the ability to support both drafting and modeling tasks are key to success in this position.


Primary Responsibilities:

Drafting & Modeling



  • Develop and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D Revit models for all project phases (concept, design, construction, and as-built)
  • Produce detailed shop drawings, submittal packages, and as-built documentation for project turnover
  • Incorporate redlines, markups, and revisions into drawings promptly and accurately


Collaboration & Coordination



  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure drawings reflect current design intent and technical requirements
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings to identify and resolve design conflicts with other disciplines
  • Communicate effectively across disciplines and contribute to design resolution through proactive problem-solving and coordination tools


Standards & Compliance



  • Implement and maintain BIM standards, templates, and workflows in accordance with company and client specifications
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation in compliance with company standards


Process Improvement & Support



  • Support the development of standard drafting procedures and contribute to process improvements
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating new tools or practices to enhance drafting efficiency and consistency


Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong preference for Revit for low-voltage drafting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience drafting in a construction, low-voltage, or MEP environment.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage systems (AV, security, fire alarm, intercom, nurse call, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and codes.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
  • Familiarity with BICSI standards, NFPA, IBC, and other low-voltage codes/regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical symbols, device layouts, and structured cabling practices.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu or other markup/review tools.
