Job Details

Under the general direction of the Warehouse Systems/Operations (WSO) Director, assists with the implementation of the Warehouse Systems/Operations software, manages the post-implementation operation of the software in an assigned divisional territory, and assists with other territories as needed. (Note, WSO applications includes but is not limited to = PkMS (WM), Slot Optimization (SO), WorkInfo (LM), Supply Chain Intelligence (SCI), Extended Enterprise Management (EEM), Jira, and Confluence).

Implement:

  • Assists in the development and coordination of various schedules and ensures DC participation in required project tasks.

  • Manages, performs, and coordinates DC tasks related to go-live preparation, including but not limited to: site prep, configuration, testing, training, cut-over planning and go-live support.

  • Projects could include the initial deployment of the WSO software, upgrades, or significant new functionality being deployed such as Track and Trace, manifesting, PMA reports/dashboards, and SlotInfo/LM integration.

  • Acts as primary facilitator between the DC and the corporate implementation team for operational process meetings, functional gap analysis, and configuration requirements.

Manage:

  • Responsible for the consistent utilization and performance of the WSO applications to adhere to Cencora principles and practices or local business requirements.

  • Ensures that supervisory and system activities are getting completed in a timely manner; includes, but not limited to: a) work tasks completed using standard processes, b) system, process or data exceptions are identified and resolved, and c) routine data or configuration maintenance.

  • Responsible for set-up and utilization of system enhancements, functionality, reports/queries, and processes.

  • Provides on-going leadership and training to DC management on proper work processes and functionality.

  • Develops contingency plans for the divisions in the event of WSO application issues or outages to mitigate operational disruption.

  • Manages the Change Control log and SOX compliance for the WSO application operation.

  • Creates management tools to best manage the WSO applications, and shares such tools with other WSO Managers.

  • Responsible for systems management of all WSO software applications.

Monitor:

  • Identifies and communicates issues which impact cost, configuration, schedule, and operation of WSO applications.

  • Monitors key metrics and performs periodic audits of system configuration and operational processes; develops and implements action plans for improving any unsatisfactory results.

  • Monitors inventory sync reports and investigates discrepancies for root causes.

  • Ensures that PkMS configurations support desired WorkInfo engineered standards, Standard Operating Procedures, Slot Optimization requirements, and SCI/reporting requirements.

  • Provides issue/status reporting as appropriately assigned by the WSO Director.

Support:

  • Provides ongoing functional and system support, acting as first level support for DC Supervisors and Management; including, but not limited to, periodic after-hours support, routine on-site visits to other sites within primary territory (minimum of 4 days ever 2 months), and periodic on-site visits to sites outside primary territory for activities such as go-live, physical inventory, and emergency support.

  • Executes the necessary WSO application configurations and functionality to manage physical inventories in the local territory, working with the division management as required.

  • Assumes leadership and ownership of assigned issues and tasks through completion.

  • Conducts WSO system, enhancement, and business scenario testing as required.

  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves WSO application/technical issues.

  • Interacts with operational users to answer questions and to ensure that they understand how to use the system to complete their job functions.

  • Acts as liaison between distribution center management and other parties involved in WSO applications, including IT/IBM, and other Cencora teams.

  • Supports implementation of new WSO application releases and modifications.

  • Supports WSO application implementations at other ABC locations as needed.

  • On a weekly rotating basis with other WSO Managers, provides on-call support for the ABDC distribution centers running the WSO applications (inside and outside the local territory).

Improve:

  • Identifies opportunities for system or process improvement.

  • Provides input concerning needed/desired system functionality, processes, interfaces, and enhancements.

  • Defines requirements for system or operational process improvements.

  • Collaborates with other WSO Managers to compare and develop best practices, functionality, and metrics.

Slot Optimization Specific Duties:

  • Responsible for ensuring product is stored and arranged in locations that optimize total production efficiencies to include order fulfillment, put away, and replenishment tasks; location types include, but are not limited to, static shelving, carton flow rack, A-Frames, and case pick-to-belt modules.

  • Ensures that put away and picking rules are in sync with the desired slotting profile.

  • Utilizing the "Slot Optimization" software tool and other user-created queries/tools, define requirements for existing or projected storage configurations and provides item placement/move reports to facilitate product movement.

  • Working with applicable warehouse departments, creates business goals, objectives, and constraints to configure the Slot Optimization tool to drive optimal and obtainable slotting results.

  • Comprehends the Slot Optimization software tool reports and PkMS reports in order to make sound operational storage decisions and facility rework decisions as necessary.

  • Executes PkMS functionality in order to update and retrieve data within the Slot Optimization software.

  • Plans, coordinates, and schedules the various slotting inventory moves to maximize operational results and minimize operational cost and disruption.

  • Develops and implements new processes and procedures when necessary; develops recommended changes to PkMS rules to optimize warehouse performance.

Other:

  • Manages repository of information.

  • Owner of site specific documentation such as operations guide, system configuration, issue tracking and change control.

  • Complies with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations.

  • Interacts directly with divisional management resources, such as the Operations Manager, Inventory Control Manager and Vice President / Distribution Center Manager.

  • Interacts directly with other Cencora management.

  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education;

Experience:

  • Normally requires a minimum of four (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience

  • Previous exposure to PkMS or other WMS package(s) required

  • Experience in warehouse operations preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Detailed understanding of PkMS or equivalent WMS configuration and functionality within a complex and/or automated environment

  • Demonstrated strong aptitude for PkMS or equivalent WMS configuration and application functionality

  • Demonstrated understanding of how complex integrated systems interact to impact business results

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including root cause analysis; ability to prove root cause through factual data analysis

  • Familiarity with AS400 or equivalent environment, such as Command line usage, such as wrkjob, wrksplf, workoutq, Work-query, QM-Query and SQL; ODBC, FTP, transfer to/from AS400

  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Cognos or Business Objects

  • Working knowledge of the following Manhattan Associate's software preferred: Warehouse Management, Slotting Optimization, Labor Management, Supply Chain Intelligence, Extended Enterprise Management

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

  • Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently and prevent reoccurrence

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to operational associates in simplified terms

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision

  • Strong decision making skills

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office suite of products, especially Excel or Access

  • Ability to plan and conduct effective meetings

  • Ability to train, motivate and direct the work of others from both an on-site and remote capacity

  • Working knowledge of Cencora business processes preferred

  • Experience with de-bugging RPGLE programs preferred

  • Experience in warehouse operations preferred

  • Knowledge of RF equipment and WMS printers and PC servers and MS-SQL server preferred

  • Knowledge of Team Site web server beneficial

  • Lean or Six-Sigma skills preferred

  • Willing to travel up to 33% of the time

Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
