Who we are and what we do:

Under direction of the IT Manager Senior within Strategic Technology Solutions, supporting the Department of Children's Services; the Security IT Manager Sr. is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining an agency-wide security strategy to safeguard the agencies systems, data, and infrastructure. This position will lead and manage a team of IT security professionals responsible for protecting information systems and data, detecting and addressing threats and vulnerabilities, and implementing effective response processes and procedures to manage security incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor IT security team members to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of agency information systems and data while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute the agencies information security strategy and operations in alignment with the STS Cybersecurity Program.
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations, including those governing PHI, PII, and SSA data.
  • Collaborate with agency executives and IT leadership to integrate security best practices into development, access management, procurement, business processes, and all projects with an IT component.
  • Oversee security operations, including incident response, threat detection, vulnerability management, and investigations.
  • Lead and coordinate risk assessments and security audits; ensure timely remediation of findings.
  • Manage security awareness and training programs to educate staff, reinforce cybersecurity practices, and foster a culture of security awareness across the agency.
  • Coordinate with State Information Security staff and IT Executive Leadership to ensure continuous compliance and reporting for incident responses, risk assessments, and audits.
  • Provide guidance on secure architecture and application design, ensuring third-party tools and projects adhere to established security governance standards and best practices.
  • Communicate risk posture and project updates to executive leadership through clear written and verbal reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a technology related field and seven years of IT leadership experience. Relevant professional information technology experience may be substituted for the required degree.

  • Seven years prior experience leading a team of IT professionals delivering and supporting successful Business Solutions.
  • Excellent time management, organization, prioritization, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with various levels of leadership and coworkers.
  • High degree of technical competence and emotional IQ.
