Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Medical/Surgical Float Pool to join the team. This role will be part-time, night shift, two consecutive 12 hr shifts on weekends, 7PM - 7.30AM (Saturday & Sunday) |

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities:



  • Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
  • Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
  • Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
  • Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
  • Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
  • Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
  • Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
  • Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
  • Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

    • If RNs have an Associate's Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1. Identify which school they plan to attend, 2. Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion; 3. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required prerequisites and timeline for taking the courses, and 4. Complete BSN within 5 years of start date

  • Experience: Experience: 2+ years of critical care RN experience preferred
  • Licensure:- Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
  • Certifications- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification (American Heart Association)
