Innovative Prototyper

Executing prototyping requests under the direction of an experienced K-C scientist or technician:

Responsibilities include:

• Creating protypes and iterations of new product concepts for all stages of FEI (vision creation, seed idea, concept development, concept refinement, management samples, bench testing, small scale human use testing)
• Prototype documentation (sufficient instructions to enable others to recreate prototypes)
• Making patterns/templates for prototypes or helping translate patterns and templates into engineering drawings and equipment.
• Participate in ideation/brainstorming sessions
• Operation and set up of prototyping equipment (bonders, embossers, clickers, cutters, heat sealers, irons, sewing machines, cameras, lighting...)
• Product measurements, assessments, labeling, tagging, packaging, and shipping
• Meeting/display assistance (shipping, set-up, clean up, storage)
• Assist with the creation of demos / benefit visualizations (seed ideas, working prototypes...)
• Prep and assembly for boards, kits, posters, and labels
• Photo/Video taking (backgrounds, lighting, uploading, digital organization)
• Prep samples for bench testing including - washing and deconstruction of reusables, raw materials preparation, and disposable products
• Help support PPS work (making templates, writing instructions, overseeing job at PPS, and overseeing intermittent PPS help)
• Other duties as needed

• Ability to illustrate (seed idea, concept, icon, benefit visualization...)
• Graphic design - illustrations of prototypes, 3-D computer rendering, graphics images to print onto prototypes
