Lab Technician

Location: Kingwood, TX

Contract: 12 months (could extend)

Pay: $34 hr. to $35 hr.

Job Description:

Principal responsibilities:

• Conduct analytical testing in support of business lines and production facilities to ensure that accurate and timely results are provided
• Performing various wet chemistry and instrumental analyses on materials using methods/instruments such as ICP-OES, IC, moisture titration by Karl Fischer, viscosity, flash point, HPLC, GPC, GC, GCMS, NMR, SEM, XRF, XRD, etc.
• Performing routine calibration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and standards as required
• General laboratory maintenance to ensure that the laboratory is in full compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations, and procedures
• Following and complying with established quality, safety, and environmental procedures and policies
• Maintaining and operating lab instruments and equipment in a safe and professional manner
• Keeping work area clean, safe, and organized

Basic qualifications:

• High School Diploma with at least with 5 years of analytical laboratory experience.
• Strong commitment to safety
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to complete assigned projects in a safe and timely manner
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Must be detail oriented and able to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
• Capable of standing for long periods of time on concrete flooring, bending, stooping, and other physical tasks

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent education
• Minimum of 2 years of analytical laboratory experience
• Experience working with hazardous chemicals
• Self-starter and able to work with minimal work direction
• Ability to interact well with others and work in a collaborative team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with a diverse team including chemists, engineers, and R&D to ensure the best overall result
• Excellent time-management skills
• Must be highly organized, flexible, and capable of adapting to priority changes on a regular basis
• Prior use of analytical instrumentation software
• Use of and managing electronic laboratory notebooks
