Lab Technician Location: Kingwood, TX Contract: 12 months (could extend) Pay: $34 hr. to $35 hr. Job Description: Principal responsibilities:
- Conduct analytical testing in support of business lines and production facilities to ensure that accurate and timely results are provided
- Performing various wet chemistry and instrumental analyses on materials using methods/instruments such as ICP-OES, IC, moisture titration by Karl Fischer, viscosity, flash point, HPLC, GPC, GC, GCMS, NMR, SEM, XRF, XRD, etc.
- Performing routine calibration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and standards as required
- General laboratory maintenance to ensure that the laboratory is in full compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations, and procedures
- Following and complying with established quality, safety, and environmental procedures and policies
- Maintaining and operating lab instruments and equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Keeping work area clean, safe, and organized
Basic qualifications:
- High School Diploma with at least with 5 years of analytical laboratory experience.
- Strong commitment to safety
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to complete assigned projects in a safe and timely manner
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented and able to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
- Capable of standing for long periods of time on concrete flooring, bending, stooping, and other physical tasks
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent education
- Minimum of 2 years of analytical laboratory experience
- Experience working with hazardous chemicals
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal work direction
- Ability to interact well with others and work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with a diverse team including chemists, engineers, and R&D to ensure the best overall result
- Excellent time-management skills
- Must be highly organized, flexible, and capable of adapting to priority changes on a regular basis
- Prior use of analytical instrumentation software
- Use of and managing electronic laboratory notebooks
