The Lead Assistant Construction Management is responsible for supporting the management and administration of project activities as directed by the Construction or Project Manager to ensure execution of the work in accordance with the Company's procedures and the contract documents. Also responsible for providing current and detailed information to the field to further drive timely field coordination and execution. This position could include leading and/or mentoring multiple Project Engineers on large projects.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Provides support to Construction and Project Managers to include receiving, logging, reviewing, tracking, expediting, and distribution of submittals, RFI's, and other Project Controls Documentation
  • Develops a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (plans, specifications, schedule, etc.)
  • Participates in the Safe Behavior Observation (SBO) process
  • Assists Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Construction Managers in documenting changes in scope of work
  • Assists Superintendents, Field Engineers, Construction Managers, and Quality Control coordinating required testing and documentation
  • Collects data, assembles, and distributes various weekly reports as required
  • Assists the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Procurement with purchasing, expediting and receiving material and equipment for the project
  • Assists Field Engineer or Construction Manager in the preparation, issuance, and receipt of bid packages between field teams and Procurement for review and tabulation
  • Assists with managing the project schedule on a regular basis. Identifies schedule conflicts and assists the Construction and Project Managers in their resolution
    Supports the Construction Manager and Field Engineer to actively manage field coordination of Subcontractors and quality management
    Manages the tracking, reproduction, distribution, specifications, sketches and revisions of all drawings
  • Supports the Project Team in the timely completion of all required project closeout documents per contract, including turnover packages, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, owner training, punch lists, and other related items
  • Assists Construction Manager with scheduling of Project Team meetings with all required personnel. Takes and issues meeting minutes as required
  • Creates, updates, and maintains a variety of project controls metrics that track the status of individual projects or task orders, changes to projects or task orders, request for information (RFI), shop drawings and submittals, matters involving quality controls, safety, financial performance, close-out and other aspects of the project(s) or task order(s). Analyzes reports and uses personal influence to recommend priorities to the Construction Manager that prevent delays to critical activities within the project
  • Assists the Project Team in scheduling and executing the BIM Process. Work with design department to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process
  • Manages or supports the change management process, by updating logs, routing source documents to vendors, obtaining pricing, developing estimates and proposals, writing change orders and other related activities
  • Proactively identifies issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
  • Assists with the evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings
  • Other duties as assigned
Show your expertise
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • OSHA10 required / OSHA30 preferred
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Prior experience as a Construction Coordinator preferred
  • Experience working on construction projects (preferably Semi and/or Pharmaceutical type projects)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand drawings and specifications, contract documents, materials, means and methods
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, estimating, construction costs, scheduling, and purchasing
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
