Accounts Receivable (AR) Analyst Summary

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced AR Analyst to join our Accounting team. This is a critical role that sits firmly within the general ledger process, focusing heavily on technical accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and accurate transactional recording. This is not a primary collections role; the ideal candidate will possess deep accounting knowledge, particularly in ensuring the integrity of the Accounts Receivable subledger and supporting the financial close.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Close Support: Actively support the monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including preparing necessary AR-related accruals, journal entries, reconciliation schedules, and management reporting.

  • Subledger Integrity: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of the Accounts Receivable subledger to the General Ledger (GL) to ensure all systems and records are in balance, investigating and resolving any discrepancies immediately.

  • Intercompany Reconciliation & Clearing: Manage and clear complex intercompany AR/AP balances, ensuring that all necessary support is obtained and recorded correctly.

  • Transaction Processing: Accurately record and process all AR transactions, including invoices, cash receipts, and credit memos, ensuring proper application within the ERP system, specifically Oracle.

  • Master Data Governance: Enforce the proper setup and maintenance of customer master data to ensure accurate intercompany billing and recording.

  • Bad Debt & Reserves: Process and record entries related to bad debt expense, write-offs, and manage the Allowance for Doubtful Accounts calculation and reconciliation.

  • Technical Documentation: Clearly articulate and document the accounting treatment for complex AR transactions, such as refunds, credit memo issuance, and debt write-offs, demonstrating a strong understanding of debit and credit entries.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Receivable or General Ledger accounting.

  • Proven expertise in balance sheet reconciliation, specifically reconciling AR subledgers to the GL.

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting concepts, particularly surrounding revenue recognition and reserves (e.g., Allowance for Bad Debt).

  • Experience with a major ERP system (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) is required, with preference given to Oracle experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and clear intercompany accounts and transactions within a multi-entity structure.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables) for data analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
