As an Electrical Engineer I - Sustaining, you will support existing medical device products through technical investigation, design improvements, and implementation of component and process changes. This is a hands-on, entry-level engineering position working within the Sustaining Engineering team to maintain and enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You will assist in analyzing data, supporting design changes, resolving production issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Bracco's electromechanical medical devices under the guidance of senior-level engineers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of updated/improved electrical solutions to meet customer and design requirements.
- Support product enhancement projects according to solid project plans and management principles (scope, timeline, milestones, and risk-based decision-making).
- Help implement updated/improved designs into production, including assisting in the development of functional test solutions.
- Update required specifications and technical documents including requirements specifications, architecture and design documentation, and test and verification plans and reports.
- Support existing microcontroller and microprocessor-based products incorporating sensors, motor controls, communication, and UX elements.
- Assist in ensuring designs meet applicable regulatory standards such as electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), REACH/RoHS and other environmental standards.
- Perform work in adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), including development and maintenance of documentation.
- Support existing test fixtures to verify circuit boards and/or system functionality for production testing
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other team members to maintain and improve the design of BMT medical device products.
- Communicate with peers and supervisors including documentation of work, meetings, and decisions. Ensure that meetings, project reviews and action lists are kept current and communicated to cross-functional team members in a timely fashion.
- Diagnose the root causes of system failures and specify solutions.
- Gain an understanding of user experiences to contribute to informed design improvement decisions
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Minimum:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuit design and component function.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, PADS, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to use electrical test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
- Self-starter with strong initiative and personal accountability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- Internship or project experience with embedded systems, sensors, or motor control.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC and safety compliance requirements.
- Exposure to medical device or other regulated environments.
- Experience with data analysis, design of experiments, or statistical methods.
Compensation & Total Rewards: Estimated Starting Salary Range: $80,000 - $87,000 *Estimated Starting Salary Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position.
