CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Electric Distribution Engineer V to join our Electric Distribution Team in Albany or Rochester, NY, as a technical leader and mentor. This is your opportunity to inspire progress, oversee project delivery, and leave a meaningful legacy across a wide spectrum of electric distribution engineering initiatives. This position offers fully remote capabilities; however, occasional on-site responsibilities may be required if you are located near a CHA office.



What You'll Do:

    Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for electric distribution infrastructure, including above-ground and below-ground assets
  • Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues in various areas of electric distribution
  • Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions that enhance grid resiliency and energy efficiency
  • Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
  • Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support
  • Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices across various areas such as protection coordination with SEL devices, power quality, Volt-VAR optimization, and distribution studies
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, Synchrowave event analysis, CYME, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$125,000 - $140,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
