Job Title: Microbiology Analyst II, Quality Control Operations

Location: Onsite - Norton, MA (occasional travel to Cambridge, MA)

Start Date: ASAP


Position Overview:

We are seeking a Microbiology Analyst II to join the Quality Control Operations team. This role supports the department's mission to maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance across development and commercial programs. The Analyst II will perform both routine and non-routine microbiological testing, assist in environmental monitoring and utility sampling, and contribute to data review, trend reporting, and investigations.

This is an onsite role based primarily in Norton, MA, with occasional responsibilities in Cambridge, MA.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform routine and non-routine microbiological assays (bioburden, TOC, endotoxin, conductivity) to support critical utility samples, in-process samples, and product release following established SOPs.



  • Conduct environmental monitoring and critical utility sampling (water systems, compressed gases).



  • Maintain accurate training records and complete testing assignments on schedule to meet project timelines and quality metrics.



  • Ensure data accuracy and timeliness; may perform data review to support efficient availability of results.



  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and supplies.



  • Support controlled document revisions (SOPs, work instructions, test methods) to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.



  • Participate in quality events such as investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.



  • Support inspection readiness activities, including audits and regulatory inspections.



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Materials Management, and Quality Assurance, to maintain seamless quality operations.



  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and compliance.




Qualifications:


  • B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field (Associate's degree or Biotech Certificate considered).



  • 2+ years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, ideally in Quality Control.



  • Previous experience with microbiology methods such as bioburden, TOC, endotoxin, conductivity, environmental monitoring, and critical utility sampling.



  • Exposure to quality events (investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls) preferred.



  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage shifting priorities.



  • Effective communicator and team player in a collaborative environment.



  • Proficiency with LIMS, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is helpful.




Key Must-Haves:


  • Hands-on experience with basic microbiology methods (bioburden, TOC, endotoxin, conductivity).



  • Experience with environmental monitoring and critical utility sampling (water systems, compressed gas).



  • Familiarity with trend reporting and quality events (investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls).
