Job Details

Two postdoctoral positions are available at Stanford University, Department of Neurobiology in an exciting, largely uncharted field to study multiregional neural computations underlying dynamic social interactions and their development in Marmosets and in Rhesus Macaques (two positions available, respectively). We combine largescale neural recordings and perturbations, innovative game-theory driven behavioral paradigms, machine vision and advanced computational and modeling methods to get at how dynamic social behaviors are mediated at the neuronal and population level. The project seeks to uncover

  • How are internal models of other agents built and updated with social experiences?
  • How do social predictions inform social strategies?
  • How are multiple timescales of computations implemented across the social brain?

Our interdisciplinary laboratory is nested in a highly collaborative community promoting scientific excellence. The PI is committed to providing strong mentorship and long-term support of trainee's goals. The lab has open positions starting between February and August 2025, flexible.

We are looking for bright, highly motivated, detail-oriented team players to join us.

  • Applicants must hold a PhD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience/Engineering/CS/Psychology/related fields. Candidates within their final year of a Ph.D. are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in extracellular recordings, computational analysis, and/or optogenetics using viral vector approaches in behaving animals is required. Relevant submitted first author manuscript is required prior to starting the position.
  • Experience with non-human primates and BCI is advantageous but not required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills, attention to details, ability to work independently and in a collaborative team as well as self-motivation are required.

Interested qualified applicants are encouraged to email Dr. Keren Haroush (kharoush@stanford.edu) with a short cover letter describing their experience and goals, a CV, and the contact information for at least two academic references.
