Electric Operationsensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California.The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. Position Summary

This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

The Utility Worker is responsible for performing the maintenance and construction of transmission structures company-wide. This is an entry level position with advancement opportunities for motivated individuals who perform successfully. Work is predominantly outdoors and in all weather conditions. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, travel/transfer to new headquarter upon request at any time, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment.

This position requires a 5-year commitment to the Tower Department per LOA 07-033.

The position is a General Construction position, and individuals must be able to travel and transfer to a new headquarters upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantee as to how long you will be away from home.

To better represent the communities, we serve within a timely manner, applicants who live within 50 miles of the headquarters will be given additional consideration.

PG&E provides the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $38.74 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity

Responsibilities:

* Fabricate, punch, mark, grind, and translate engineer drawings

* Operate and use forklifts, pallet jacks, off-highway vehicles, fire pump trailers, air compressors, portable light trailers, and small street sweepers

* Dig soil and concrete to expose structural foundations, remove and repair damaged steel pieces

* Operate and use electric, hydraulic, gasoline-powered and pneumatic power tools such as jackhammers, hole-punches, band saws, cutting torches, and drills

* Ensure equipment, supplies, tools and materials are organized and stored properly on vehicles

* Load and unloads equipment, supplies, tools and materials at the yard, point of assembly and at the job site

* Drive company vehicles to and from designated job sites

* Work in a team environment. Attend and participate in crew, department and company-wide meetings

* Attend and participate in daily tailboard meetings to receive job assignment, discuss safety, review business issues and prioritize the work

* Communicate face to face, by phone, cell phone and radio with supervisor, foreman, and crew members regarding job, safety and work assignments.

* Work safely at all times as defined by PG&E's safety standards and procedures

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be at least 18 years of age

* Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience

*Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire

*Must possess and maintain a valid Class A California Driver's License Permit by within 3 months of hire

* Ability to work in all types of weather extremes

* Ability to drive in all weather and road conditions

* Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, holidays, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)

* Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home

* Ability to work at varying levels of heights

* Able to work near/around helicopters

* Comfortable working at height above 100 feet

* Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds a minimum of one time a day

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience in welding fabrication

* Experience with basic hand and power tools used in the construction industry.

* Experience in construction, engineering, estimating and design, or work management, 1 year

* Certified to operate a forklift
