The Position

Who we are:

Public Affairs & Access (PAA) is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Corporate Communications; Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy; Channel & Contract Management; External Affairs; Access Solutions and Patient Support; and Strategy and Business Operations. Our purpose is to deliver impact through a fully integrated public affairs function that leverages our capabilities and world-class Genentech brand to deliver on our mission for patients and our employees.

The Strategy and Business Operations team is accountable for maximizing the impact of PAA through strategic operations partnership focused on delivering business priorities and outcomes.

The Opportunity:

The Operations Manager is an individual contributor accountable for providing strategic operational partnership for the Policy, Evidence, & Access Strategy (PEAS) function. This role is a key partner to the PEAS team, helping to execute on the function's strategy.

These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support for key organizational initiatives, including the coordination of Integrated Access Planning (IAP) operations and socialization

  • Vendor contracting and research operationalization support

  • Compliance business process management

  • Strategic operations/project management partnership across PEAS and other PAA functions.

This position will drive the implementation of complex operational strategies and manage key business processes to enhance efficiency and impact.

Note, that specific focus areas will be determined based on business priorities, technical expertise, and/or capacity and may evolve or change based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic thought partnership, operations, and/or business planning to internal teams to drive business impact

    • Primarily focused on developing mid-term strategies within business area and implementing complex operational strategies

    • Operates with some guidance, especially related to new / ambiguous strategies / tactics

  • Manages (directly or indirectly) key business processes, systems, and/or tools

  • Demonstrates deep technical knowledge in respective operational/business area

  • Continually evaluates, prioritizes, and enhances existing processes and systems to drive improvements, efficiencies, collaboration, and compliance risk mitigation

  • Proactively partners across the organization to equip and empower stakeholders to deliver on our Operating Principles and fulfill on our mission in service of customers and patients

  • Embraces empowerment with accountability, seeks advice appropriately, and executes with urgency without being told what to do

  • Demonstrates entrepreneurial and enterprise-level thinking by being bold, creative, curious, pushing boundaries, and finding a way; Contribute to a team culture of innovation, enterprise-level thinking, collaboration, and impact.

Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree

  • You have 4 or more years relevant experience, specifically in operations, management consulting, or strategy and operations

  • You have Expert-level project management skills

  • Proven track record at leading change management projects, including project management, policy development, and communication/training planning

  • Experience with tracking and reporting out metrics and analytical insights

  • High-level proficiency in Google applications (gCal, gDoc, gSlides, etc)

  • Self-starter with ability to manage up as needed to guide stakeholders to achieve their objectives in an efficient manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Certification (PMI, PMP, etc) highly desirable

  • Experience with vendor/contractor management and healthcare compliance in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Familiarity with U.S. payer landscape and healthcare market access issues and strategy is a plus

This position requires a presence at our South San Francisco Genentech Campus.

Relocation assistance is not offered for this posting

Willingness and ability to travel as needed for the role up to 10%

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $111,800/yr to $207,600/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
