Position Summary:

Within MaineHealth's ambulatory pharmacy program, the pharmacy technician will be a part of our growing Hemostasis and Thrombosis program. In this role, the pharmacy technician will help clinical pharmacists provide medication therapy for anticoagulant, antiplatelet, and hemostatic agents.

Some core functions include:

  • Assists clinical pharmacists with core functions of anticoagulation care within the clinic.
  • Provides appropriate healthcare education and follows protocols related to specific clinics.
  • Prepares and maintains patient charts for each encounter within the electronic health record.
  • Ensures proper documentation of INR results, patient contact via telephone, and any other pertinent information regarding patient care.
  • Triages phone calls and refers to appropriate providers.
  • Assists with processing of prescription claims and investigation into patient affordability, as needed.
  • Provides direct patient care and specimen collection within the scope of practice in the State of Maine.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and follows all MaineHealth standards for fire, safety, and infection prevention.

Shift: Full-time weekdays

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. License/Certifications: Current or eligible for applicable state(s) license as a Pharmacy Technician.

3. Experience: None required

4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Proficient computer skills

5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: NA
