Department Overview

Nuclear Generation produces safe, reliable, and cost-effective electricity for PG&E's customers in an environmentally responsible manner. As the state's single largest source of clean energy, Diablo Canyon Power Plant's two pressurized water reactors produce 2,340 MW of electricity for California. As directed by California Senate Bill 846, PG&E is taking actions to continue Diablo Canyon operations for five years beyond 2025 to support state electrical reliability needs. Our coworkers at Diablo Canyon are strongly committed to the highest levels of safety, performance, and security at the facility. At both Diablo Canyon and PG&E's former nuclear unit at the Humboldt Bay Power Plant, PG&E safely stores spent nuclear fuel on-site in dry container storage systems approved and licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Nuclear Generation is comprised of approximately 1,300 coworkers.

The Sourcing organization is the functional lead for the procurement of materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers, managing $10 billion of annual company spend, to develop mutually beneficial total cost solutions for goods and services. The department provides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, supplier relationship management, supplier diversity planning, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoing procurement field support, and management of the procure-to-pay cycle.

Position Summary

To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

This position oversees the procurement of quality and non-quality related services and materials at Diablo Canyon and Humboldt Bay Power Plants through leadership of a cross-functional team to strategically and tactically source services and materials critical to the reliable operation of Diablo Canyon. This team maximizes value to the company through efficiency and cost savings, maintains a diverse and robust supply base, and achieves safety, environmental, productivity, and customer satisfaction targets.

Travel is approximately 5% of the scheduled work time, and would include select industry conferences, procurement meetings, or training.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Luis Obispo).

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

California Minimum: $120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise, develop, mentor, and coach Bargaining Unit professional staff
  • Develop supply chain strategies and operating plans to maintain a high level of service while meeting department goals and maximizing value
  • Review corrective action program assignments, assess performance, and identify and address trends. Collaborate with Procurement Center of Excellence to assist and implement corporate level strategies with the team.
  • Manage and assign individual work assignments, schedule, and priorities. Ensure schedules are met
  • Ensure appropriate training, mentoring, and proficiency measures are implemented for the team
  • Maintain efficiency and productivity to provide timely materials and services to support T-week, Project, Outage, and client schedules
  • Work with client subject matter specialists and managers to assess business requirements and develop strategic plans for ongoing client supply chain needs
  • Work with suppliers to implement quality, cost, and schedule improvements
  • Participate in appropriate professional and trade organization/training programs to monitor industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies and programs
  • Ensure nuclear quality assurance requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B are met through compliance with plant procedures
  • Work with internal finance and audit teams on requests for information, audit questions, findings, and compliance with our procedures.

Qualifications-

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a field generally associated with power plants, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in procurement, engineering, or related field

Desired:

  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience
  • Knowledge of nuclear procurement quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Supply chain, procurement, or project management certifications (e.g. CPSM, CPIM, PMP, etc.)
  • Experience managing contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to focus on rigorous projects, plant maintenance, and outage schedules, and prompt issue resolution.
  • SAP/SRM proficiency
  • Oral Communication -- Effectively expresses ideas and information through the spoken word using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience.
  • Critical Thinking -- Demonstrates skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
