Overview
Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Principal Engineer - Quality Control to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. As a trusted partner to government agencies and national laboratories, Omega Technical Services supports some of the nation's most complex and high-impact programs. Responsibilities
Duties:
Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in
support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
- Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
- Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
- Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
- Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
- Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
- Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
- Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
- Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
- Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
- Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks. Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas. An Associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years ofpractical experience would also be considered equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.
- Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

- Practical field experience in civil (soils, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, protective coatings) quality control inspections.
- Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans in accordance with technical documents, codes and standards.
- Competency in reviewing and issuing non-conformance reports and coordinating corrective actions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to foster a collaborative and safety-oriented work environment.
- Experience working under NQA-1 quality assurance programs at DOE facilities.
- Practical QC inspection field experience within the last 12 months.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance.
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
- QC Certification as Level II or Level III.
- Familiarity with AC308 adhesive anchor requirements and ESR reports.
- Knowledge of concrete fresh properties test methods.
- Additional certifications such as AWS CWI, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector, and ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector.
- Highly knowledgeable in ACI 318 and ACI 349.
