Position Description

Harmonia is seeking an experienced Database Security SME/Technical Lead to lead enterprise-level database security initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee the design, implementation, and management of secure database systems, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity policies and frameworks. This position requires technical expertise in database administration, security architecture, and the integration of security tools with SIEM platforms.

Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement robust database security protocols to protect data from unauthorized access or compromise.
  • Lead security initiatives for databases across production, development, and testing environments.
  • Integrate database security tools with SIEM systems to enhance real-time monitoring and incident detection.
  • Manage and maintain database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with security requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and security teams on database protection best practices.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and audits of database environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen enterprise data security posture and respond to incidents.
  • Document database configurations, policies, and procedures for compliance and operational consistency.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in database security, administration, or related technical roles.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL database security configurations.
  • Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, or ArcSight).
  • Proven ability to manage and secure enterprise database environments in compliance with federal standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.


Desired



  • Experience with database encryption, access control, and audit logging tools.
  • Experience implementing database security frameworks aligned with NIST and FISMA standards.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or database-specific credentials (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams in security-focused projects.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and automated database security monitoring.
