Department:ICE | PTSL Cancer Institute OPDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Pharmacist III performs all duties of the Pharmacist I and Pharmacist II, including ensuring safe, accurate and appropriate use of medications, by evaluating prescribers' orders for dosing, allergies, and contraindication, helping oversee and direct the work of supportive pharmacy personnel, and preparing and dispensing medications, including oral and injectable medications and hazardous drugs (including chemotherapy). All Pharmacists are responsible for prioritizing the work in a way that best meets the needs of patients, the pharmacy, and other stakeholders and customers. They will answer pharmacy -related questions for patients, other health professionals and the public. They will report adverse drug events and medication safety events and will document interventions in the medical record. They will recommend appropriate and cost-effective drug therapy options and provide medication counseling to patients and their families. They promote and participate in the defined missions of the service line and the strategic goals of the health system.In addition, the Pharmacist III takes on additional responsibility and shows initiative beyond the minimum expectations of a Pharmacist I or II. They will have direct reports, and will serve in a supervisory role (i.e., online supervisor, or team leader with direct reports). They will assist in performing personnel functions for their direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, competency assessment, and discipline. They will perform or otherwise ensure proper training of their direct reports, both initially and on an ongoing basis. They will work closely with the Director to ensure that the goals of the team are met . They will have excellent knowledge of the department's operations and distribution, will always maintain professionalism and courtesy, and will serve as an example and resource for others in the department. The internal and external customers for this position include personnel from nursing, transport, Campus Operations, Environmental Services, Human Resources, physicians, students, residents, patients, family members and caregivers.
