JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Corporation is seeking a dynamic Vice President, Privacy & Data Security to serve as a senior legal advisor on all matters related to privacy, cybersecurity, data governance, and incident response across our growing portfolio of consumer-facing platforms. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of law, technology, business, and compliance-and reports directly to the co-Chief Privacy Officers.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with technology, legal, security, product, and business leadership to help FOX navigate an evolving global privacy landscape. You'll be directly responsible for advising on privacy-by-design principles, drafting and negotiating complex privacy/security contract language, guiding the business through incident response, and advising the company on streaming-specific regulatory obligations such as VPPA, COPPA, and CIPPA. This is a lean team with a collaborative, sleeves-up culture-perfect for an operator who thrives with autonomy and is ready to own the privacy strategy from policy to execution.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as lead privacy counsel on a variety of consumer-facing digital initiatives, including websites, streaming apps, data analytics, AI, and adtech
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day legal counsel on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity issues-including federal and state privacy laws (VPPA, COPPA, CIPPA, CCPA/CPRA, etc.)
  • Draft and negotiate data privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements, vendor contracts, and strategic partnerships
  • Advise business teams on data use, data governance, and cross-border data transfer issues
  • Lead privacy impact assessments and partner with stakeholders to embed privacy-by-design across business and product development lifecycles
  • Monitor and advise on legal developments, regulatory trends, industry self-regulation, and best practices in data protection and cybersecurity
  • Support incident response and breach notification processes in collaboration with Information Security and Legal teams
  • Prepare and present briefings on privacy and data risk for internal stakeholders, including executive leadership and the Audit Committee
  • Develop and deliver internal privacy trainings, policies, and communications
  • Respond to consumer privacy rights requests and manage regulatory inquiries as needed
  • Operate as a strategic advisor within a lean, high-performing legal and privacy function

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
  • Minimum 8+ years of privacy and/or data security legal experience, ideally with both top law firm and in-house roles
  • Proven experience advising senior leaders and cross-functional teams on privacy laws, data use, and security frameworks
  • Expertise in streaming, media, or tech-focused legal environments-especially those involving consumer data, digital advertising, or video delivery
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. and international privacy laws (e.g., VPPA, COPPA, CIPPA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR)
  • Skilled in contract drafting/negotiation with attention to regulatory nuance and risk balancing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, agile setting
  • Exceptional communicator-capable of explaining legal concepts in business language and presenting to senior stakeholders (including Audit Committee)
  • Strong judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving orientation
  • Comfortable operating in a lean team-no direct reports, but high visibility and cross-functional influence

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience in the media, entertainment, or streaming industry
  • Prior in-house counsel work at a tech, data, or content-driven organization
  • Admission to the California State Bar or willingness to register as In-House Counsel in CA
