SUMMARY
The Dental Assistant Supervisor is responsible for hiring, supervising, managing performance and developing dental clinic staff. The position provides oversight of patient care and manages patient flow in the Dental Clinic and is responsible for ensuring appropriate care is provided by dental assistant staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
- Directs day-to-day activities of the Dental Assistant and Dental Assistant Senior staff.
- Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
- Manages dental clinic patient flow.
- Insures proper training and orientation of new staff.
- Implements quality improvement activities.
- Collaborates with department management team in promoting customer focused delivery of service.
- The Supervisor may also perform the work of a Dental Assistant including preparing treatment rooms for patients by following the day sheet treatment plan and preparing patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping patients.
- Complies with all regulatory standards, hospital policies/procedures and quality/patient safety standards.
- Assists in dental emergencies that occur in the clinic and/or Emergency Department by preparing treatment room, and ensuring accessibility of instruments, equipment and materials during procedures. Anticipates tools needed by dentists throughout the procedure and ensures timely access of tools.
- Complies with OSHA regulations, infection control protocols, CHCO patient safety policies, Joint Commission regulations, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and QSRS filing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant certification program.
- EXPERIENCE - Four years of experience in Pediatric Dentistry
- EQUIVALENCY - Five years of chair side dental assistant experience may substitute for graduation from a Dental Assistant certification program.
- CERTIFICATION(S) - State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Surgical Assistant or Surgical Tech Registration; CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers. Dental Assistant EDDA Certification preferred .
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $23.54 to $35.31.
