Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc, the nation's leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances is actively looking for a Plant Superintendent (Weekend shift) for it's main manufacturing facility located in Anniston, AL.

The Plant Superintendent general supervision of all aspects of daily plant operations on assigned shift to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. This role works closely with the production, maintenance, and shipping teams to improve productivity and communication across the manufacturing operation. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, managing production activities, enforcing safety, environmental, and quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that team members are trained in respective roles. The superintendent serves as a key leader in aligning operational activities with organizational goals.

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Ensure seamless communication regarding scheduling and priorities is made with prior shift managers.
  • Review established production schedules to meet inventory targets while maximizing efficiency.
  • Coordinate the training of shift team members.
  • Monitor processes, quality of work, efficiency, and output.
  • Observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive work environment.
  • Encourage employee involvement and process control to improve quality and production standards.
  • Provide leadership to supervisors, team leads, and team members.
  • Review production orders and schedules to plan department operations.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to meet production and quality specifications.
  • Compile, store and retrieve production data.
  • Review production and operation reports and resolve issues and minimum costs and delays.

Managerial Responsibilities

Directly manage production leaders within a department producing ductile iron waterworks fittings. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, problem solving, and people skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical concepts and demonstrates ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proven experience supervising multi-disciplined teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

Physical & Cognitive Abilities

  • This role involves frequent physical activity, including climbing, walking, standing, stooping, balancing, and handling tools and materials. Employees must be able to lift to 50 pounds, as needed.
  • The work environment varies between a standard office setting and a manufacturing plant. Plant conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
  • Regular walks through the plant are required. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as needed, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
