Job Overview:
The CSP Tech is responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad sterilization, as well as all monitoring processes included with the same.

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- At least 1 year applicable work experience

Essential Functions:
- Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment
- Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service
- Responsible for orienting new employees on the computerized tracking system
- Perform, prioritize and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which included and not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures
- Decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment as needed by keeping a continuous flow of equipment moving through the process
- Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedure
- Perform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures
- Inspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assembly
- Assembles surgical trays following established needs list of priorities
- Uses appropriate container, wrap or pouch according to the size of the instrument or equipment
- Communicates any issues that arise with instrument preparation to the Supervisor
- Is proficient in all General instruments and sets as well as all service lines
- Is able to precept others on proper inspection and assemble of instrument sets
- Sterilizes instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedures
- Knows how to run tests on all sterilizers, monitor and document that all parameters have been met
- Is able to precept on sterilization
- Use chemicals in the appropriate fashion taking into consideration the intended use of chemical as well as chemicals function: knowledge of appropriate PPE is also necessary
- Use PPE in the appropriate fashion in all areas
- Participates in expediting the OR schedule by assisting the other member of the OR
- Team in obtaining the instruments/equipment necessary for the procedure in a timely manner
- Has knowledge of basic and complex instrumentation and is competent in all service lines as well as instrumentation from outside user units
- Is competent in all implant trays and the restocking of said sets
- Communicates information related to instrumentation, equipment and supplies that may potentially delay or cancel surgery due to malfunctioned equipment or any other unusual occurrences in a timely manner
- Demonstrates knowledge on principles of sterile technique, universal precautions, fire, safety and disaster protocol, body mechanics and hazardous materials
- Participates in quality and efficiency improvement activities and attends in-service programs
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills and works as a team player
- Maintains an unquestionable attendance record and Certification renewal requirements
- Orients and precepts new employees in all areas of Central Sterile Processing
- Able to lead the Central Processing Team in the absence of the Manager or Supervisor
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to prioritize and perform tasks
