Position Summary
The Metabolomics and Proteomics ( MAP) Core at UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking a Research Specialist with expertise in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based metabolomics and lipidomics. This remote position focuses on data analysis, method development, and the optimization of targeted parallel reaction monitoring ( PRM) techniques for quantitative profiling of small molecules and lipids.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in analytical chemistry, biology, bioinformatics, or mass spectrometry, and be proficient in metabolomics data analysis and interpretation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficiency with LC-MS data analysis software for metabolomics/lipidomics and small-molecule quantitation (e.g., Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch, MetaboAnalyst, Skyline).
Demonstrated experience in developing and optimizing targeted LC-MS quantification methods.
Familiarity with Orbitrap-based and/or ion trap instruments, including acquisition method optimization.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Course work in chemistry, biology, bioinformatics, or a related field.
Experience integrating metabolomics/lipidomics data with other OMICs datasets.
Coding experience in R or Python.
Prior experience working in a research laboratory or core facility environment.
