About Reingold

Reingold is a full-service marketing and creative firm in Alexandria, VA. For more than 40 years, we've been driven by a simple mission: to help organizations - whether in the government, nonprofit, or business sector - as they strive to make the world a better place. We hire top-notch talent to develop and launch compelling, inventive communications campaigns, leveraging the latest technology and digital media strategies that enable our clients to meet their audiences where they are.

We're proud to say we've built a team of curious, passionate pros - from marketers and tech wizards to designers and strategists - who love what they do and bring their A-game every day. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We believe great ideas come from collaboration, humor, and a little bit of fun along the way.

When you work at Reingold, you get more than a job, you get a community. We offer competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, a dynamic hybrid work environment, a vibrant workplace and growth opportunities in a variety of specialty areas. That means when we find great people (and they find us), they stick around for the long term.

That's where you come in. We're looking for someone with real-world experience in cloud engineering and the confidence to work independently on core infrastructure tasks. You don't need to be a domain expert, but you should be hungry to learn, comfortable navigating unfamiliar systems, and confident in your ability to figure things out. At Reingold, Google Cloud engineering isn't just a support function; it's a key part of how we deliver innovative, AI-powered solutions for our clients. You'll use a code-first approach to build and manage Google Cloud infrastructure for advanced conversational AI applications, working with cross-functional teams to build systems that are secure, scalable, and repeatable. You'll also implement robust CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications, and leverage Google Cloud's suite to help teams own their services in production, spot issues early, and fix them fast.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week on site at Reingold's headquarters in Alexandria, VA.

Here's the work you'll do:

Essential Functions:

  • Design, build, and maintain conversational AI solutions using Google Cloud services like Vertex AI Search and Dialogflow CX.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate and manage a suite of Google Cloud APIs, including Discovery Engine, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery, ensuring secure and efficient data flow.
  • Develop and manage API proxies and security policies to facilitate robust integrations between backend services and client-facing applications.
  • Monitor the health and performance of GCP services, including App Engine and Compute Engine instances, using Cloud Monitoring and Logging to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and service accounts within GCP to maintain a secure and compliant cloud environment.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure tasks and workflows using Python scripting to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities using common scanning and reporting tools, in coordination with security guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and process flows that align with internal standards and operational requirements.Perform ad-hoc tasks based on evolving team priorities and your individual skills or areas of interest.

This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.

This role is a good fit for someone with these qualifications, experience and skills:

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, web development, or related field.
  • Formal training in computer science, information technology, DevOps, or a related field either through a college degree program or an immersive professional training program.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications and services on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Practical experience building or maintaining solutions that leverage Google Cloud's AI and data services.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automating cloud tasks and API integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based development environment.
  • Understanding of cloud administration fundamentals, including networking, IAM, and security best practices within a GCP environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience building and tuning chatbots or virtual agents using Dialogflow CX and integrating them with data sources via Vertex AI Search and Discovery Engine.
  • Familiarity with managing APIs through an API gateway, preferably Google Apigee, including setting up proxies and authentication policies.
  • Experience working with Google Cloud data services such as BigQuery for analytics, Cloud Storage for object storage, and Cloud Datastore for NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of securing sensitive data within GCP using tools like Cloud Data Loss Prevention (DLP) API.
  • Prior experience in a development-focused role, especially if you've integrated various Google Cloud APIs to build and ship real web applications.
  • Comfort working across cloud-native services, infrastructure components, and security controls, with a strong sense of when to leverage managed services versus building custom solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving instincts and a curiosity-driven mindset, especially around performance, reliability, and automation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with developers, engineers, project managers, leadership, and clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have direct reports but will be expected to mentor junior teammates and to lead by example and influence.
