THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facility Operations Supervisor to oversee our team in the supervision of a variety of HVAC, building maintenance and grounds keeping tasks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this supervisory role, you will monitor and inspect the work of subordinate workers, direct reports, or contractors who maintain highly complex building systems and grounds, ensuring projects are following established trades methods, agency quality standards, regulations and project objectives. You will be expected to be knowledgeable of changes in regulations, codes, and standards and communicate changes to staff. Work includes performing preventative maintenance and assisting in various maintenance, cleaning and repair operations. This position resolves unforeseeable project impediments and establishes/reestablishes priorities in the project timeline accordingly. Essential to your role will be enforcing all safety rules, procedures and work practices, taking action to correct unsafe conditions and investigating and reporting accidents. You will have the opportunity to provide on-the-job training to Semi-Skilled Laborer(s) or other subordinate employees in the performance of cleaning, repair, or maintenance work.

Additional duties to include but not limited to:

  • Responding to emergency maintenance or security calls if needed
  • Maintaining and caring for tools and equipment
  • Procuring parts and materials to include items used in routine systems maintenance
  • Maintaining records of all cleaning and preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance work, and repairs to equipment or the building
  • Inspecting buildings and grounds to identify, determine, and estimate costs of repairs or maintenance needed and reporting findings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of skilled trades work experience in commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential facilities, or utility plant operations; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
