Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, Cardinal Health, Inc. (NYSE: CAH) is a distributor of pharmaceuticals, a global manufacturer and distributor of medical and laboratory products, and a provider of performance and data solutions for healthcare facilities. Departing from Columbus, Ohio, our Part 91 Aviation department aircraft currently includes a Falcon 2000LXS and Embraer Praetor 500.

Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for servicing, inspecting, repairing, and managing the overall quality assurance program for the corporate aircraft and associated equipment in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and IS-BAO standards as defined in the Company Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. The Director of Aircraft Maintenance is a leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence of Cardinal Health Aviations maintenance department. This individual will lead all aspects of aircraft maintenance ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and airworthiness across the fleet. Reporting to the Vice President of Aviation, the Director of Maintenance (DOM) will drive continuous improvement, manage vendor relationships, and align maintenance operations with company objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company owned aircraft maintenance activities adhere to FAA Part 91 regulations and manufacturer (OEM) manuals. A "Part 91 maintenance job" involvesensuring the airworthiness of aircraft operating under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Part 91, which governs private, non-commercial aviation.
  • Direct and oversee all on- and off-equipment maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of maintenance schedules and aircraft readiness for flight. Ensure that all maintenance records, files, logbook entries, supporting data and manuals are kept current, organized, signed off, and retained in accordance with FAA regulations, OEM and Company requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor aircraft maintenance technician/mechanics, providing clear assignments, technical guidance, performance feedback, and direction.
  • Manage the maintenance budget and ensure adequate tools, equipment, and resources to perform job effectively. Forecasting, and the ongoing planning and monitoring of operational and capital expenditures.
  • Oversee maintenance record-keeping and ensure the appropriate tracking of aircraft maintenance events. Establishing and tracking maintenance performance metrics.
  • Foster a strong safety culture and maintain high standards for quality in all maintenance operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the maintenance department and others (pilots, scheduling, etc.) to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Performing routine maintenance duties, troubleshooting, aircraft cleaning, database updates, and other assigned tasks. Servicing of: oil, oxygen, nitrogen, and tire pressures. Perform inspections at specific intervals, as required by Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 91, Subpart E.
  • Collaborate with and manage relationships with third-party repair facilities, vendors, and suppliers. Negotiate contracts with MROs, OEMs, and other vendors to optimize spend and ensure service quality.
  • Analyze maintenance data, identify trends, and implement preventive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and enhance fleet performance. Ensuring that all discrepancies are properly documented, repaired or deferred per the MEL, and that the aircraft is in airworthy condition prior to each flight.
  • Representing the Company in industry forums and contributing to best practices in Business Aviation.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance performed on the company aircraft is accomplished by qualified maintenance personnel and MRO facilities. Managing personnel and outside vendors to ensure adequate maintenance support to achieve high dispatch reliability rates.
  • Ensuring that tools and equipment used on the aircraft are properly calibrated. Removing unsafe or unairworthy aircraft from service. Participating in the Safety Management System.
  • Ensuring coverage at home-base for aircraft departures and arrivals. Assisting pilots with loading of passengers and baggage.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Aviation.

Qualifications:

  • A strong background in aviation maintenance, with specific experience in FAA Part 91 (Corporate Aviation), troubleshooting, and inspections. Familiarity is IS-BAO standards.
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&) certificate
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Ability to travel 25%. REAL ID-compliant driver's license. Ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, early mornings, weekends, and holidays to support maintenance and flight operations.
  • 10+ years of experience in Business Aviation Maintenance & NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) preferred
  • Requires working in confined spaces, sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate machines and equipment
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking systems, manufacturer manuals, and performing various maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration tasks on aircraft is essential.
  • Proven experience managing maintenance programs, tracking software, and compliance systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making abilities to handle complex technical issues and crisis situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with staff, management, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Meticulous approach to record-keeping, safety protocols, and quality control. Strong financial acumen.
  • Knowledge & proficiency of software tools for presentations, cost analysis, budgeting, inventory control, and supplier management.

Anticipated pay range:$125,500 - $195,000
