EHS Program Manager

The Waymo Safety team works to promote and help to continuously improve the safety of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our experts develop safety goals and strategies, and conduct safety engineering analyses to ensure safety is being considered throughout the design and development of our vehicles. The team develops and promotes safety strategies and policies for autonomous vehicles for its work with regulatory authorities, lawmakers, law enforcement and public and non-profit organizations. Our Safety Team also helps advise on compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Environment, Health and Safety Manager.

You will:

• Develop, implement, and maintain Waymo's Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and consensus standards.
• Serve as Waymo's Laser Safety Officer (LSO), ensuring conformance with the occupational safety requirements of the ANSI Z136 standard.
• Manage Waymo's Industrial Hygiene program through a combination of internal and third-party resources.
• Manage Waymo's Hazardous Waste program including waste profiles, labeling, accumulation, and disposal.
• Manage Waymo's EHS Compliance Calendar including defining applicability, requirements, tasks, and completion criteria.
• Work with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders including Waymo employees, vendors, contractors, and partners to ensure their operations meet Waymo's EHS standards.

You have:

• At least five (5) years of experience managing a broad range of EHS programs.
• Experience managing an industrial hygiene program.
• Experience with electrical safety such as arc flash, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and / or EV battery management including storage, handling, use, and disposal.
• Experience working with an enterprise EHS software platform.
• Experience managing an internal EHS assurance program, including inspections, audits, findings, and corrective actions.
• Experience managing the EHS aspects related to hardware research and development and laboratory operations.

We prefer:

• Experience serving as a Laser Safety Officer is preferred, but not required for this role. Training and support resources post-hire can be provided to ensure an effective transition into this portion of the role.
• Experience with robotic safety standards, including ANSI/RIA R15.06.
• Experience with facilities and construction-related safety.
• Experience managing an Ergonomics program in both office and industrial settings.
• Experience working with an EHS Management of Change program.
• Experience managing the EHS aspects related to Electric Vehicle (EV) fleet operations and maintenance.

Travel:

• This role requires approximately 25% travel
