Description

Skyworks' Cedar Rapids design center is seeking a Staff CAD Engineer responsible for supporting the Layout Team with innovative automation techniques across commercial/standard processes such as bulk CMOS/SOI/SiGe. Our team works on fast paced, exciting projects across multiple sites and disciplines, with plenty of opportunities to make a lasting impact!

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the PDK team to utilize Calibre and custom scripts to solve DRC, LVS, and PEX errors
  • Position requires remote interfacing with domestic and international design engineering and layout teams across multiple design centers in different time zones
  • Provide and maintain custom scripts and applications to support the MSB Layout Group
  • Collaborate with IP, Layout, Foundry, other CAD teams to create meaningful and encompassing solutions to IC Design and Layout problems
  • Instruct Designers and Layout Engineers on new tools and methodologies beneficial to the IC design and Tape Out Process
  • Construct multi-platform tools to track Layout and CAD related projects and maintain updates from Designers and Layout Engineers
  • Regularly meet with Layout Engineers to discover and evaluate new methodologies and tools to increase productivity and performance

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent a plus
  • Minimum five years' of applicable experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the layout of integrated circuits including the ability to place and route active and passive devices
  • Good understanding of semiconductor processes and structures, like CMOS FETs, capacitors, resistors etc.
  • Knowledge of PDK development and updates
  • Proven experience and competency using Cadence Virtuoso and SkillCAD tools
  • Proven ability to interpret DRC, ERC, LVS, ANTENNA using the Calibre verification tool and to read electrical schematics and netlists
  • Skilled at solving Cadence related problems using Python, Skill, or PERL
  • Ability to work effectively with team members locally and globally at all levels of the organization

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$112,500 -$215,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
