The HR Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining HR and payroll compliance across the organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring payroll integrity, audit readiness, and regulatory adherence at the federal, state, and local level, through the development of standard operating procedures, vendor oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities
- Direct various fleet management activities such asprocurement, repairs (including accident repairs and damage claims), maintenance, servicing etc., according to priority to ensure that all functions are carried out within established rules and legal regulations
- Confer with departments and Burris companies regarding the needs/issues of vehicles and provide timely resolutions of relevant conflicts
- Coordinate lease agreements and/or purchases of tractors, straight trucks, other vehicles, trailers and related transportation equipment for optimal quality and price
- Provide detailed technical training related to maintenance to team members, answer queries and communicate information related to policies and procedures
- Maintain statistical reports, files and relevant records related to maintenance, repairs, depreciation, mileage, etc
- Develop and implement an annual budget by analyzing and reviewing the financial data and by controlling and authorizing expenditures done and to assist in formulating new policies, programs, and procedures
- Improve efficiency by identifying factors that can reduce administrative and transportation costs for the organization
- Coordinate with Safety on transportation matters
- Manage claims related to transportation activities and/or assist the General Counsel with such claims as needed
- Ensure timely filing of DOT required registration, licenses and other filings
- Other duties as assigned
Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in logistics or accounting, preferred
- 3+ years in logistics/transportation industry
- Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors to the point that productivity and morale are positively affected
- Ability to train and motivate employees to work in a safe manner, lead by example
- Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
- Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in computer usage to include email, word processing, spreadsheets
- Knowledge of computer software and applications
- Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as required
- Ability to Travel
