Job Summary

Under supervision of the Manager, guided by policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the TMS Technician, will actively participate on a multidisciplinary quality improvement team to improve the health of targeted patients with chronic illness across UCSF Medical Center practices The role of the TMS Technician is to assist the care team by coordinating care for patients on and off the daily schedule. The TMS Technician will act as a primary conduit for the transmission of information between providers and patients and coordinate services for all patients who are part of the assigned panel, especially those with serious, complex or chronic health problems. The TMS Technician will provide advocacy, information and referral services to patients and families to address their medical and psychosocial needs.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
The salary range for this position is $39.63 - 49.47 (Hourly Rate).

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications


  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Certification from MagVenture Inc; or, willingness to obtain certification
  • 1 year of experience in a medical practice
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated computer familiarity, keyboard skills, computer literate in programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Willingness to learn new computer programs as needed to sustain practice operations
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and diverse socioeconomic situations
  • High School graduation and three years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications


  • Familiarity with Epic
  • Demonstrated fluency in Spanish or Chinese language: speaking, reading and writing
  • Behavioral Health and Psychiatry experience
  • Experience collecting, and entering data, identifying errors and missing information, and performing basic analysis
  • Experience working with the public, preferably in a medical/hospital/clinic environment

License/Certification


  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • MagVenture Inc Certification
