Job Description |
ECU Department of Community Engaged Research is seeking several Community Development Engagement Ambassadors. The Community Development Engagement Ambassador role provides students with a paid, experiential opportunity to actively contribute to strategies that strengthen and improve Eastern North Carolina communities. Through data collection, analysis, and direct engagement with local leaders, ambassadors will help create actionable community profiles that guide future public investments and improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Ambassadors will:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret community data metrics to identify trends and assets.
- Complete a structured, templated community profile for an assigned county.
- Engage with community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to identify priority areas of concern and opportunity.
- Conduct focused community assessments to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Collaborate with other ambassadors (two per county) to ensure consistency of reporting.
- Prepare and present findings in a clear, organized, and professional format.
- Contribute to the overall purpose of building stronger, healthier, and more resilient Eastern NC communities.
Compensation: $12.00 per hour
Hours: Up to 15 hours per week (10-week period)
Program Dates: Fall 2025 (with potential Spring 2026 continuation)
Location: in-person, on-campus |

Qualifications
- Must be Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Strong written, oral, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a structured program.
- Comfortable engaging with various community stakeholders in professional settings.
- Basic proficiency with data collection tools, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and/or data visualization platforms.
