Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's Degree.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join us in our Greensboro, NC location. The Senior EHS Specialist will report directly to the East Region Senior EHS Manager.
Key EHS Functions and Responsibilities
- Multisite EHS responsibility
- Developing, managing, and seeking to continually improve all required EHS programs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations, including but not limited to US EPA, US OSHA, all NC Regulatory Departments including all required company programs, processes, instructions, and best practices.
- Maintaining site environmental permits and sampling complying with all reporting and permit application requirements
- Managing and continually evaluating the following key EHS programs:
- Air Permitting
- Chemical Management / Chemical Use Inventory / Source Registration
- HAZCOM
- Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) Programs including Annual Program Reviews
- Emergency Response
- Hazardous and Universal Waste Management Including Waste Minimization
- Machine Safety / Machine Guarding
- Job Hazard Analysis
- Employee Exposure Monitoring
- Respiratory Protection
- Routine Ergonomic Evaluations
- Ensuring weekly/monthly inspections of entire facility ensuring continual audit-ready compliance with EHS policies including operating procedures and personal protective equipment requirements
- Conducting accident / incident investigations using root cause analysis and corrective / preventative action
- Performing risk assessments to evaluate hazardous conditions and practices to develop control solutions utilizing Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Developing and leading EHS training programs
- Managing employee volunteer safety inspection program including managing / resolving all team action items
Required Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety and/or a related Science or Engineering degree is preferred
- 2+ years working within an Environmental Health & Safety role preferably within a Manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of EHS Management Systems preferred
- Working knowledge of machining operations preferred
- Exceptional organizational, time management, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to understand and effectively relate to employees at all levels while promoting a climate of positive employee relationships throughout Manufacturing floor
- Proven skills in projecting confidence, working collaboratively, and earning trust
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead change throughout continuous improvement programs
- Highly effective interpersonal communication skills required
- Highly effective written skills, including the ability to create and update documentation including audit reports, procedures, presentations, and training materials
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task effectively, and deal professionally with internal customers and co-workers
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Strong and effective computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

Target salary range: USD $80,024.00/Yr. - USD $86,589.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
